The Most Eye-Catching Spots in Kuching



1)   Sarawak Cultural Village, Kuching


      It is a must to pay a visit at Sarawak Cultural Village, located at Damai Beach Resort, 35km north from Kuching. It was also dubbed as a living museum. Tourists will be guaranteed to feel amazed with its attractions because there, people can find houses built by the different people of Sarawak, Orang Ulu, Bidayauh, Iban and Melanau, not to forget Chinese and Malay houses as well. Especially for those who wants to get to know more about the original living people of Sarawak, this place could definitely helps a lot. Plus, on every July, Sarawak Cultural Village is also one of the famous locations to celebrate Rainforest World Music Festival.

It opens daily as early as 9am and closes at 5:15pm. There are also two Cultural shows per day which are the first one starts from 11:30 until 12:15 noon, and the other one is on 4 until 4:45pm. During the cultural show, it will showcase the traditional dances, stories and even the customs of Sarawak. Since Kuching is the main attraction in Sarawak, it has become the most strategic place for tourists to visit. For the entrance fee, it is free for kids under 6 years old, RM 30 for kids around 6-12, and RM 60 for adults.

2)   Cat Museum


Founded in 1993, Kuching Cat Museum is a cat museum in Kuching, Sarawak. Since it was named ”Kuching”, people surely will look forward about this Cat Museum. It is owned by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU), it contains more than 2000 artifacts, statues about cats from all over the world. It is located at Bukit Siol, Jalan Semariang, Petra Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak.  It’s only about 10 minutes drive away from the Kuching Town.


There are many interesting stories and lots of histories about cat in the museum and variety types of stuffed cats visitors could find. Such as Garfield, Hello Kitty, Felix and many other famous cats.  There is even a section where it reserves all kinds of cats’ foods and not to forget the most important part, the souvenirs available for visitors to purchase  including keychains, stamps, stationeries and many more.
Different from Sarawak Cultural Village, Cat Museum didn’t require any entrance fees except for pictures taking inside the museum. As for any recordings or pictures taking, visitors need to make a small payment as minimum RM3 to RM5.

3)   Kuching Esplanade


For those who loves photography, sight-seeing, and all environmental-friendly activities, Kuching Esplanade is must visit place when visitors come to Kuching. Once a trading area in Kuching, the waterfront area at Sungai Sarawak has now been transformed into a landscaped esplanade.


By just walking along the riverside, visitors will simply amazed by the beautiful scenery that took place. As Kuching Esplanade is located strategically at the town of Kuching, it also has been the most talk-about place to stop by. There are also various of historic plaques and many historic buildings in the area. Visitors could also enjoy their time riding the river crossing boat. Visitors will be more stunned by the breathtaking scenery of Kuching Esplanade during nightime. City of Kuching...





Kuching has been one of the attractions in Malaysia as the beautiful place of vacationing. Even though Kuching Sarawak is formed as a part of peninsular Malaysia, but that is not an excuse for people from anywhere to come and stop by.

Kuching also has been the most heavily populated city of the East Malaysian state of Sarawak. The city covers an area of 719 sq miles (1,863 km²) and has an estimated population of 1 million of 2012. Kuching is located at the banks of the Sarawak River on the North-Western part of the island of Borneo.

In 1827, Pengiran Indera Mahkota, the representative of the Sultan of Brunei, was the founder of Kuching and named as the third capital of Sarawak. In 1599, Sultan Pengiran Tengah was the founder of two past capitals which were Santubong, and Lidah Tanah founded by Datu Patinggi Ali in early 1820s.
